Hello to you my dear reader(s)!
So this time Im gonna tell you about my stay at Agnes water and Airlie Beach. The last entry was a bit of a tricky one, you see I posted it from Agnes Water, but I wrote it in Rainbow beach.. So My stay in Agnes water was organised by the Sunset Safari crew, and we were there to go snorkeling at the reef out in the lagoon by Lady Musgrove Island. We had two nights in Agnes Water. The first day mostly went by traveling and getting to know the group. Then the next morning we got up really early to go to the reef. As we had our brekkie we get a phonecall that tells us its cancelled because of severe wind warnings. We were all devestated!! But Harry, our tourguide saved the day and took us on a 1 1/2 our drive to go to a reptile park in Childres. It was really cool! We got to se a snake show, a crocodille show and got to hold both species and also feed kengaroos! The shows were really informative, but also gave me goose bumps.. Im not a big fan of those snakes!! I got to hold a black headed python called Trevor. The pictures gives us a good description of how uncomfortable I was.. When we went back to Agnes water we just hung around the hostel and had a good time with the group. Also Harry made us a beautiful barbieque!
Next morning we hoped we were going on the boat to go to the Island. And we did! One of the worst boat-trips ever.. Most of the passangers got sick from the rough sea.. Good times! So when we finally got to our destination we were served lunch, which I was not ready for.. So I headed stright for the water and had myself a good snorkle session alone in the snorkle area -well everyone was on the boat having lunch! On my journey around I got to see heaps of turtles and even got so close to one that I gave it a little pet on the shell. I was overly happy! When everyone else were done eating and started to pour into the water I saw my chance to go up and have lunch without having to que up at all. :) After yet another good snorkle-sesh, we packed up and headed home. Most of us were afraid to get sick again, but as the tourguides told us, riding the waves home was gonna be much better than going into them on the way out. We got to sit on the frot deck all the way home and had a great time. We even got to see a couple of dolphines in the water by the boat. And yes, I cried a little from the excitement that came of them beeing so close to me.. I was like a happy child jumping and clapping my hands.. yay! After we got back on shore we jumped stright into the bus and set sail (?) back to Brisbane.
Oh! Funfact! Agnes water is also right next to the town of 1770. This town is where Cpt. Cook first came in land in Queensland and Australia, I think. The town is therefore named after the year he landed there, which was the year of 1770. Pretty cool!
So after getting back to Brissy, me and Cams stayed together for one more night, had brekkie together and then I set off towards Airlie Beach. My journey there was by plane to Hamilton Island and then by boat onto the mainland. The boat-trip was just beautiful! The weather was really nice (and SUPERHOT and humid...) and the water turqoise like I have never seen before. It was like going to paradise! Airlie Beach was also really nice! The first day I had there I managed to get sortoff lost in this little town.. I thought I was gonna save some money and walk my way to the hostel, but I took one wrong turn and ended up walking the whole town with my two backpacks (in the middle of the day - which means it really hot - before I finally found my way to the hostle. Did some laundry and met the two danish girls that we went on the Fraser Island trip with. We met up for dinner later and had a good night.
Next morning it was time for my sailboat trip with the Camira, a catamaran sailboat. The trip was really nice! I met a Finish girl onboard and hung out with her most of the day. We got to go snorkeling in the Hook passage and then went on to Whitehaven Beach. Incredibly beautiful!! We had to wear stingersuits whilst in the water tho, because its stinger-seasson.. But they were fairly comfortable and also protected you from the sun. While we were on the beach me and Anni (the fin) went up into the bush to see som guanas. They were hidden in the bushes and we almost walked stright onto them. Got some good pics and got out of there! Back on the boat we had a lovely bbq and headed back to Airlie.
Next day, which is today I got up and gathered my stuff to go on the Grayhound further up north. On one of the stops I got talking to a guy and we were both surprised when we figured out that we were both Norwegian. It was really good to have someone to share the busride with the rest of the way, I was getting bored allready - falling asleep and that.. I arrived in Townsville around two o'clock and then caught a ferry over to Magnetic Island where I am this moment. Im staying at a place called the Bungalow Bay which has its own koala sanctuary and all! After getting here I have done some wildlife encounters allready! As I was walking up to my bungalow I met a wallaby sitting on the road, I also saw a possum and have fed the pretty little birds here.. Lorricais or something like that.. One sat on my head for a long time and had a great time there I guess.. Loud birds they are, squeeking into my ear.. Well, anyways! Tomorrow Im gonna go horseriding on the beach and what not! Can't wait!
Thanks for reading guys! xx
