The off exploring people say the only way you will get alerts is if we update via the website - not using the app. Unfortunately we have to use the app for photos as they won't upload from the website using the ipad. Hopefully you will get an alert.
We are saving this as we go because we just spent ages doing the blog and when we went to publish it -it got lost in cyber space! So here we go again
Since our last blog Trish has recovered from her bout of food poisoning but spent the whole day in bed sleeping when we returned to Oslo.
Wendy caught caught up with her friends for dinner. After a tea ceremony she had moose and veggies washed down with lots of red and white wine. She had a great time even though Trish and Pam kept telling referring to her dinner as "eating "Bullwinkle". And yes Pam did enjoy the Rudolfsuppe she had in Bergen.
Next day we had an early start for a long drive to Stockholm. Unfortunately the weather became very overcast and cold. Unlike Norway the scenery along the way was nothing special. We changed bus drivers for the last hour or so before reaching Stockholm which was sad as Dan was really nice - he did not speak much English but smiled a lot.
We arrived in Stockholm only to find most things would be shut for midsummer holidays. We had a bit of a tour around in the morning and then set off to the ABBA museum which was fabulous. Even non ABBA fans would have been impressed - that means you John Gow! The museum is part of the Swedish Music Hall of Fame which covered music from all over the world and covered many decades. Our only criticism (for want of a better word) was that they did not accept cash - not even for a postcard - only credit cards. We caught the No. 7 tram to the museum and because it was near the location for the midsummer festival there were heaps of people - it was too hard for the ticket collector so she let us on for nothing.
On the way back to the hotel we stopped at Saint Eugenia's Catholic Church where Trish lit a candle for her Mum who we lost three years ago. 85% of Sweden are Lutheran so there are very few Catholic Churches in Stockholm and we were lucky to find one which was open. Also we were catching the ferry to Helsinki the next day so we took the opportunity when we could.
Most of the tour group left us in Stockholm including our temporary Angel Lola. We went out for dinner and had a great time but it was sad to say goodbye. Hopefully she will make it to Australia one day,
Only 7 of is continued to Helsinki, the Angels, two Aussies from WA and Pedro and Evelyn from Venezuela a really nice couple
Wendy loves the shop Zara and we were told it would be open on Saturday . It had huge sale signs plastered all over the window. We had a bit of time before we were due to catch the overnight ferry to Helsinki so we rushed down there but it was shut. Wendy had to be restrained from trying to break down the door.
The over night Ferry was more like a cruise ship with entertainment, duty free shopping and even pokkies. Pam and Wendy lost 4 euro playing them - they are such big gamblers. Wine in Scandinavia in general is vey expensive but not on the ferry. We bought a nice bottle of South African red and demolished it before dinner only to fine wine was free!
We arrived in Helsinki and were taken on a tour as we had to wait to check into the hotel. First thing Wendy did was find out where the Zara shop was. So off we set with Wendy map in hand leading the way. We made a stop for coffee and lunch then stood in the street debating the right way to go. We took off again but it became clear we did not have a clue. A very nice local girl took pity on us and said she would walk with us to the shop. It was vey embarrassing to find that we had been standing in front of Zara while debating which way to go. Wendy has been sacked as a navigator!
This afternoon we met up with another friend of Wendy's Charlie. They have now gone to the pub while Pam and Trish update the blog and start getting things ready for our flight to New York tomorrow.
We have had a great time in Europe and hope New York will be just as good.

Jill Crow Sounds like you are having lots of fun! Got the alert this time. Enjoy NY. Love Jill x
[email protected] Hi Wendy. New York, New York! Save your pennies for a couple of years time! Would you recommend Scandanavia. I've always wanted to visit there. Sound like the angels are having such a fab time! Keep enjoying. Take care. Love from Ann-Maree xx
Cheryl Hi Angels, 'Sooooo' funny your stories. Poor Wendy getting the sack as a navigator. She must have my sisters Lorrain's affliction where she can spend 5 minutes with a stranger discussing the right way to go, and when she gets back to the car, I ask her which way? and she said " I don't know, I am so confused". ??????? Although she looks like she has it all under control. " No hope". It's my time with the Girls and Boys this week. They are behaving beautifully and as loving as ever. I feed them and turn on the TV, sing to them, pat and cuddle them and they promptly go to sleep, although that's not a good thing especially for Peggy - Sue as she tends to get up early and sing to the stars. I think she may be rehearsing to compete on "THE VOICE" because she can sure sing loud with a high pitch, and then she has the backing of the choir on demand, poor neighbours!!!!. Sounds like you re all having a great time. Look forward to your next Blog and don't be good Love Cheryl xxx.
Leanne Great to hear your news. I have been thinking of you, particularly recently with the anniversary of Trish's mum's passing .... knowing it was an awful day it was last year. Have fun out there. Paint the town red!
The Island O's We love your stories ladies. Keep them coming. Can hardly wait to hear them in person when you get to our place in the great white north. Safe and adventurous travels!! Love Brian, Kim, Lauren, Katie, Keppel and Auzzie
