Ok…back in business. I arrived to Penang on 18th of dec. I was tired but it was great feeling when I got out of the plain and felt the heat. I didn´t look any information beforehand about to how to get to Langkawi Island. First I went to the information desk and they said that I have to take a bus to the centre and there is a ferry to Langkawi on next morning. I went to the centre and looked for a cheap accommodation. I went to the first motel and one room for one night was less than three Euros. I took a cold shower and then I went to harbor to ask for the ferry. Man in the ticket office said that the ferry leave at 8.15am. I also asked that is there any connections to Koh Lipe and the man said that there was one about two years ago but not anymore. He said that now I have to take a speed boat to some other Island in Thailand and then it´s around six hours ferry journey to Lipe. I was like what the f***!!!
I set up my alarm at 6.45am because check in started at 7.45 and it was about 15 minutes walk to the ferry terminal. I woke up and went to the toilet. Then I looked my arm watch and realized that it was 7.47am!!! Noooooo, I forgot to change my mobile´s clock and it´s one hour ahead in Thailand. First I thought that I will take a ferry on next morning but then I decided that I will try to get that ferry. I ran to my room and packed everything in two minutes and checked out from my motel. I took a taxi and said to the driver that now you have to drive FAST, please. I arrived to the terminal at 8.05 and after all I didn´t have any problems to catch that ferry.
It took two hours to get to Langkawi and there I went right away to ask about the boats to Koh Lipe. Surprisingly there was a speed boat to Lipe every morning at 8 (don´t trust the information that you get from the ticket office). I asked also that where the cheapest accommodations are in the Island and they said that it might be very hard to get any cheap one if I don´t have a reservation. It was holiday season in Malaysia and accommodations are full of tourists and locals. In ticket office I met an Australian couple (Ridgie & Tara) who were also heading to Koh Lipe and we decided to look accommodation together. We went to the main road and it was full off motels, guest houses and bungalows. We checked 20 different places but all of them were full. I and Ridgie were ready to sleep on the beach but Tara wanted to ask help from the local taxi driver. Taxi driver said that he knew some places out from the main road and we went to check them. First five were full and then we found one resort where was room for us. We took room for two + one extra bed and we paid about 15e each. We were very tired and we went to buy a case of cold Tiger Beer. Later we went to our beach to get totally relaxed. It was great feeling to swim in warm water and drink ice-cold beers and pina coladas. We stayed up quite late and woke up at 7am. We had wonderful buffet breakfast and then we went to the harbor. Speed boat to Koh Lipe took 1,5 hours and we arrived to Lipe around 10am.
