I arrived to Khao Lak on Christmas day. In Khao Lak I met my girl friend and her parents and family friends. I stayed eight nights in a very nice resort. I didn´t know before that if I cross the border to Thailand by buss or by boat, I can stay only for 15 days. That´s why I had to do visa run to Malaysia and flight back to get 30 days more. We went to Similan Islands to snorkel on 26th of dec. Similan Islands were very beautiful and we snorkeled in many nice spots. We didn´t do any special stuff in Khao Lak and we mainly just chilled out. On one day we went to Khao sok national park and we did elephant trekking, canoeing and went to the local market. We also visited Khao Lak- Lamru national park and we had nice walk in jungle. It was exactly four years from tsunami and there was memory evening for tsunami victims. It was touching moment when they released 5000 fire lanterns to the air.
We tried to go out couple of times but we were always so tired after dinner that we went to bed after few drinks. Once we went to Happy Snapper reggae bar and there was nice live music. On one day we rented a scooter and drove around Khao Lak and visited another local market. They sell all different kind of parts from different animals. I bought some spices (garlic, curry & chili). On New Year's Eve I had tasty tiger brawns and fried rice with cashew nuts and curry and I think it was the best meal so far. Later on we bought some drinks and went to the beach to watch fireworks. I enjoyed a lot my time in Khao Lak even thought it was full of Scandinavian baggage tourists. Minttu´s parents left on 2nd of January and I took a bus to Malaysia and Minttu took a bus to Railey Beach.
