We've packed and are ready to take the overnight bus to Belize City. Here's a little summary of Tulum:
- a lot of American-style trucks on the wide and well made roads
- chaya (a plant used by Mayans) is on offer on every breakfast menu or salad bar
- all the savoury bread and roles we tried tasted sweet(ish)
- there are street vendors all over town selling delicious fruit salad with chilli (optional)
- typical street food are tacos either sold by the street vendors or in taquerias
- all taquerias offer 'pastor' as one of the meats on the menu. I still don't know what it is and have a nagging feeling I will not like it when I finally find out what I've been eating :-/
- although the sea looks calm on all the postcards, it seems closer to the surfers' paradise in reality
We'll see what the next place will be like...apparently very rainy throughout our stay. Hope they've got it wrong.
