We had a nice night in a comfy big bed, catching up on a bi of Duck Dynasty which became a slight motel obsession of ours! The next day we headed to the F. Scott Fitzgerald house in Montgomery which he shared with Zelda. I obviously had a literary geek out at the first editions of The Great Gatsby, tender is the night and just generally soaking n all the Fitzgerald genius and ambience. We then headed to the Civil Rights Memorial centre, where we heard first hand accounts of the bus boycotts. We also walked up to the site where Rosa Parks was arrested, strangey not as big of a memorial or deal was made of this as one would presume, but it was good to take in the area that one of the defining moments in history took place nonetheless.
We got back in the car and started to make our way to Atlanta. Due to the rain storm we managed to hit we were about an hour later than expected. We arrived at my Uncle's place just in time for dinner which was delish, and an added bons of him having spotted what my favourite tipple is and bought me a bottle of Wray and Nephew - who knew you could get it in the states?! It was a night of celebration as he had just found out that he had successfully got a new job with a massive promotion. I got to meet his adorable two boys for the first time and made a good friend in Issac once he realised i wasn't too scary! We both slept really well that night in a nice comfy bed with all the home comforts. Just what we needed!
