Macklen's Euro Trip
Bonjour! We are in paris now...got here late last night around 12:30am. We had a whole day of travelling on the train: left Prague at 9:15am - switched trains 6 times, had an hour lay-over in Brussels, and then on to Paris....it was quite a day! But I got caught up on my journal, and watching the beautiful scenery out the window! That was the most beautiful ride I've ever been on - just stopped to think how big the world really is, and how many different people there are around us...often we get too caught up in our immediate world. we need to slow down... Anyways, we arrived late at the hostel, checked into our room...it is a private 3 bed room with our own shower and toilet!!!! we were so excited for some privacy! we crashed...i've never wanted to sleep so badly! we woke up in time for the free breakfast (bonus! again!) and to shower before we had to be out of the room. This hostel has a 'lock out' time where the don't let you in your room from about 11:00am - 4:00pm...for cleaning purposes I think. So we went on a walking tour from our hostel which is North of the city in the Montmarte area. We walked all the way down to the Siene river where we contineud to walk around and see some of the sights: Notre Dame...I guess that was all we saw. We were pretty exhausted. Haha...we had to go to the Metro station and go to the hostel around 5:00pm and take a nap. Funny, because we didnt' even do much - but it's just shows how much travelling can take out of you. We got a recomendation for a french restaurant from the hostel desk helper. It was great! The treat food like art here! Pastries are beautiful and colorful!!! Then off to the Eifel tower for a night viewing...it was great! Now, it's bed time. The louvre tomorrow morn! love love love! -m.
