It's a bit curious actually, I never planned to stay in Wellington at all really, but I heard from a few people that it was really a worthwhile town, and that I should stay there for a while.
I dunno what it is, but yeah, I kinda like the town already and I've only been here for like 2 hours. It helps that I don't have to pay for stay and that Base is located one block away from a supermarket and neighbor with like a ton of cheap restaurants.
I was a bit surprised when I came to pay for the ferry from picton to here. $ 51 just to cross over the strait! Damn expensive for a boatride, but the good part was that I got to see both a glimpse of a whale and heaps of dolphins right next to the boat.
Spent just about the entire day traveling, but it's always nice to wake up in a hostel and not in a bus.
Plus I really like Base hostels, as opposed to the semi-weird ones I've been in since leaving Sydney.
They are usually a bit cheaper, but 2 $ more is usually worth it.
Three nights in one place for a change feels good. Don't have to wake up early to check-out or catch the bus or anything... Awesome.
