Finally here-RIO DE JANERIO-WOOHOO-arrived a day before RIO CARNIVAL 2006!!! BRING ON THE PARTY!!!!
And that a party it is, 24 / 7. It is mad and crazy here, everyone is in such a good mood and in the mood for partying hard. No matter what time it is, there is always something to do, always a party going on. The place is filled with music and people dancing in the street, its like a scene from 'fame'. Im loving it!!!
Ive decided to do Rio Carnival the proper way and enjoy carnival in true Rio style and not pay extortionate amounts of money to get into the balls, but spent minimum money and get the most out of the carnival and dance the night away in the streets. So we spent the nights drinking caipirinihas, the local lime and cachaca cocktails, and after only 3 were set for dancing the night away. And best of all they cost about 2 pound each, for a cup of basically 40% alcohol, lime juice, sugar and crushed ice-knocks you on your arse!!!! Great!!!!
On the third night, adoned with my electric blue wig, and brazil top and wearing a brazillian flat as a skirt (looking somewhat like a porn star for a fettish porn move), we when to the Sambadome. The Sambadome is a huge stadium in which all of the dance schools parade themselves down along with their floats. It was spectacular, the costumes, dancing and the floats were all amazing, out of this world, each one with a different theme. So again it was a FAB night!
So all in all Rio Carnival was everything that I expected and more. It was so much wild and crazy fun and a definate MUST DO!!!! Definately one for the memory bank.
So the end of Rio Carnival marked an end to an era, as it did not only mark the end of the 4 day rio carnival 2006, but also the end to the tour of south america and time to say a sad goodbye to the group. With goodbye, came tears as I had made some really close friends, friends I hope to keep and see again, but in the famous words 'we'll meet again, dont know where, dont know when, but I know we will meet again some sunny day..... '
So we finally parted company and I stayed in Rio 4 more days after carnival, so it was time to really discover Rio and see what it had to offer. Spent my days doing the tourist things and went to see the Christ of Redemer, the white statue of Christ on top of the mountain, which was amazing as you had a panaramic view of Rio's coast, awesome!!! But the only problem was the mass amounts of people there.
Also went up Sugar Loaf mountain on the cable cars. As it happened, I timed it perfect as I made it up there in time to enjoy the panaramic view of Rio in the light of day and watch the sunset drop behind Christ of Redemer and see Rio but night aswell-so an amazing day!!
You cant come to Rio and not have a beach day, so I hired a bike and spent a day cycling around Rio's beaches. Theres no wonder there are so many people on the beaches of Rio as they are beautiful, with white sand and clear waters, however, the amount of people on them spoils it and you always have to watch your stuff, in case someone tries to steal it. But all in all great beaches. Not sure about the speedos though, great on sexy, muscular hot men but old, ugly, wrinkley, hair arsed men DONT DO IT, please!!!! Not a pretty sight.
I also ran and jumped off a mountain edge......obviously strapped into a paraglide and to an instructer, but I actually did have to run off the edge off a 700 ft mountain. It was such an adrenaline rush, I have to admit that I was s***ting it before we took off, but im so glad I did it. So once the wind caught the paraglide we soared high above Rio, with a spectacular view of the city and beaches for about 20 minutes, to finally land on the beach-AWESOME!!!!
So all in all the Carnival was amazing but Rio after carnival was equally as good as there is so much to do and so much fun to be had.....
So into Buenos Aires, back to the land of the beautiful men-ARGENTINA-watch out men here I come......
