Well once again we are up bright and early and off on the road again. This time we are headed to Pompeii and then after that we are then on our way to Positano. Since we all had to be up and on the bus by 7 am we were all extremely tired and stopped in a shop to get caffeine and what did we find? CRISPY M&m's which they apparently don't sell in the US anymore, after such a long morning already with the crazy packing that tiny little bag of crispy M&m's began to brighten my day. Our first stop of the day was a stop along the way to Pompeii, a monk house which once belonged to St. Benedict. After our private tour through the abbey and the church we then were on our way to Pompeii for lunch before we arrived at our final destination: the beaches at Positano. After lunch we toured the ancient ruins of Pompeii - it was amazing to walk through, our tour guide was hillarious with all of the jokes about the prostitutes and random things, the tour ended quickly when it began to pour down rain and we were not at all prepared for the rain (mostly wearing sun dresses and light colored clothing). So we hoped on the bus and headed to our final destination for the weekend, glad to be at the beaches and towns of Positano. We are staying at the most beautiful place in the world, this place looks exactly like it does in the pictures on
google. The colors of everything are so rich. Getting off of the bus
we all were saying that we felt like we were in a real life postcard -
this place looks exactly as you would imagine. We are all very happy
that we have had the opportunity to be on this trip. Being in Positano
has brought me to a new understanding that in any part of the world
there is always more to explore all around you. Just looking around
I'm reminded of how lucky I am to have been given the chance to grow
up on the beaches. If anything it wasn't until this weekend (end of
week 3) that I had the first thought of being "homesick" only because
of the beach obviously haha. The weekend started with us all lugging
our weekend belongings all the way down the side of the cliff to the
hotel which is right along the beach. They told us before coming that
it was best for us to pack light due to the long and winding
staircases that we would have to take our stuff down, a ton of girls
brought rolling suitcases and packed a ton; all I had was what fit in
my backpack and I was so glad that's all I had because I would of died
having to carry anything bigger or heavier to our hotel at the bottom
of the cliff. I always feel that I'm forgetting important things or
not taking the "right" clothes but I guess I'll learn to make do with
the things that I have with me. This trip is just preparation for my
week break when I take about the same amount of stuff with me. Well
our hotel is amazing, small rooms but we didn't plan on staying in
them much. Tonights our group dinner and then we are on our own with
no schedules till we head back to the Chigi Palace.
