So far, I have talked about the road that led to me finally participating in a mission trip and handling the first two payments. Now, for some more truly "God moments" (the first one would have to have been getting the money I needed for the passport).
Our first BIG payment ($1600) was due February 16th and with all the changes I had had in my income due to business slowing down at the restaurant, I just didn't have it. I am the kind of person who likes to plan ahead, so not having the financial resources going into the week before was a big deal for me. The benefit dinner that we held on the Friday before provided some distraction, but I started doubting again if I was supposed to be going on this trip. Carol (one of the team leaders) sat me down on Saturday (2 days before the deadline) to have a chat before our team meeting. She knew that I didn't have the funds coming in and wanted to try to help me figure it out. You see, I always thought that when I took that leap of faith and committed to something like this, that I would have support coming in from other people and not have to touch my own funds. It took that conversation with Carol and Rachel (another member of the team) to realize that when my taxes were deposited in my account within a week of filing, that was God providing what I needed to make the next payment. I had other plans for that money, but instead, was able to make the next payment on time, and still had enough income coming in to pay all of my other bills. Thus, I had my second confirmation that I was supposed to be going at this time.
If God opens the door, He will also provide the means to step thru it!
