We were up this morning to head for Laos. We made several stops along the way so it just felt like a day trip.We stopped at an incredible white temple which looked like the Snow Queens castle. It had the usual story pictures painted on the inner walls but with a few added extras. Batman, superman, a transformer, Nero from The Matrix and Kung Fu Panda all on a futuristic space background. A bit different.

We crossed the border on a little boat and stopped in a one street town on the other side. Our first interesting accommodation experience. We couldnt fault that everything was there: a fan, towels, a shower, lights, plug sockets. But they were done in a very home made fashion with a lot of black electrical tape :-/ We survived without electricuting ourselves in the shower but we did wrap up in our mozzie nets overnight just in case the mesh on the windows werent too secure. We are heading into malaria country especially being by the Mekong river so we are taking precautions just in case :)
