Hi all,
Not that much to tell you about Surfer's as I wasn't here that long. I must admit that had the beach not been so nice, I don't think I would have stayed here at all, though I like to experience everything first hand, so at least I can say 'been there, done it!'
Well Karen and I stayed in this little hostel, that was a bit pokey and not very glamorous, but it did the job! The first night we were there we went out with others from the hostel to a 'beach party'. where all of 2 people were dressed up, thankfully I was not one of them! We spent most of the evening playing drinking games and dancing, which was most enjoyable, apart from the fact the Karen and I had decided to get jugs of cocktails between us and after the second, it had put us off drinking for the rest of the night. I did actually get to a point were I was very near to tipping my drink into hers when she wasn't looking....nice at first, but after a while, revolting. So we sobbered up pretty quickly and headed home about 2ish also due to the fact that Karen kept being attacked by losers the whole night, one whose pulling technique involved tickling Karen's belly! As you can imagine he didn't get lucky with that one!
The beach, as you looked out to sea was beautiful; very fine sand that stretched for an age and the 'surf' was great. However, as you rolled over and looked behind the beach was lined with high rise buildings. Not the best.
The highlight of the hostel was that they had a 'movie bus', yes a bus were you went to watch movies and a fantastic selection of movies, obviously not pirate! Karen and I had a movie fest evening one night and watched three films! Team America, Jarhead and Derailed (don't bother watching Derailed, though it did have a good twist at the end).
The next day I said a sad farewell to Karen - she isn't rushing down the coast like me! And I headed onto Byron Bay.
