Hi all,
Well arrived in Noosa and we are staying in a lovely looking YHA hostel, that looks like some sort of old colonial building, and serves delicious food, for cheap prices....what more could you want?
Noosa is a lovely area, though rather pricey. There are lots of magnificent eateries (though I didn't get to sample any of their food, as they were too expensive for my little budget!) and the beaches are beautiful. It is also a very kid friendly area. I spent two days there lying on the beach, reading my book (one just sleeping whilst recovering from far too many drinks!)
First night there Karen and I went to have our welcome drinks at 5:30pm to learn about the hostel and the area etc....and actually continued to drink from this time until approximately 2am, not bad. We went to several different bars/clubs, made friends with a load of Aussies who had just been to a wedding; taught an Israeli guy to say "how you doing?" without sounding gay and ended the night with a series of exciting, but drunken photos a la jazz hands and Charlie's Angels stylee! Lots of fun.
The next night we went to the cinema - a somewhat quieter night than the one before - and saw 'V for Vendetta' (Simon you would like this, Jan don't bother!)
On Monday - my brother's birthday, Happy Birthday Marky - we went to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, which was soooo much fun, especially because Steve was actually there himself, well his whole family were in fact!
Steve's daughter, Bindi Sue (actually named after his favourite crocodile and his favourite dog, no s***!) does her own little show called 'Bindi and the Crocmen' which she was doing live for the first time at the zoo, so Mummy and Daddy Croc Hunters were there together to support her. It was the funniest thing; Bindi Sue was singing and doing all the actions and Steve was bouncing up and down on the seats in the audience doing all the actions with her and singing along too, what a sweet Daddy! I took so many pictures of him, playing air guitar and pretending to be a hippo etc!
After Bindi's little bit, Steve and Terri Irwin ran onto the display area to do their talk on elephants and crocs. He really is a nutter, not just in the way he talks 'crickey, little beauty' etc, but how he is with the croc. He just seems to have no fear! To get the croc back into the pen he uses hiself as bait for goodness sake and swims through the water getting the croc to chase him....mad.
The rest of the zoo was pretty cool too, especially the tigers, who are much more endangered than I thought. If they carry on being killed at the rate they are now, there will be none left in the wild by 2020; not that far away. The koalas were very cute too, one of them was having a little wander around when we visited, which made him look very much like Stitch, from Disney's Lilo and Stitch!
Next stop Brisbane......
Loads of Love
