Hello everyone,
Hope you are all well and not missing me too much!
Well I finally managed to get out of Cairns and I headed straight to Magnetic Island. I wasn't going to go there at first, but the weather was so nice on the day I left Cairns, I thought lying on the beach relaxing would be nice for a couple of days.
I loved Magnetic Island, and I think it is really pretty - I would definitely have liked to stay longer than 2 days. I arrived quite late on Saturday, after a bad bus journey (It was 6 hours and I was rather hungover - what's new!). I stayed at Maggie's which is in a really nice area called Horseshoe Bay and is right on the beach. I didn't do much on Saturday, just had a wander and dinner.
On Sunday I got up really early and headed straight for a riding stables called Blueys. I was the only one who had booked on a horse riding tour which was great as it meant I got personal tuition (also because i had to wear a stinger suit in the sea and they aren't very attractive - think catwoman, but somewhat larger and less agile!). We rode through the bush, on the beach and bareback in the sea for 2 hours. The sun was shining and the beach was deserted; it was just beautiful. (Leanne you would have loved it!) I tried galloping, but was totally crap at it and got scared, so I didn't do it and I was absolutely rubbish at riding bareback - I fell off, but into the sea so it was ok! - and my horse, Trinity, got really bored of me and got the arse, so he refused to move! All in all though it was great and I would certainly recommend it.
I am now on my way to Airlie Beach ready to sail the Whitsundays, which I am really looking forward to. Due to the cyclone I have been upgraded twice on the boats, as the previous ones I was booked on are full now. I have something to thank Larry about afterall.
Anyway will write after the sailing.
Take care
