Okay so the weekly blog idea has not totally followed through but a fornightly one is better than nothing..
tuesday- the lemon meringue went well, although my teacher did the piping on top which i was really annoyed about as i wanted to do it!! so that annoyed me that day amongst other kitchen dilemmas involving other people loosing things and me having to spend ages looking for them and missing out on having an lunch!! I had an early night that night.
wednesday-theory day, and a mega wine tasting of white and red wines which was fun. i then ate my lunch super quick to get back to the house to skype ste annnd he stood me up, not impressed! then of to an afternoon tea demo which went on late in to the evening so bed early again.
thursday-white yeast bread, fail. All the time and effort in to kneading it and leaving it and then i put it in the over forget about it and burn it. gutted. Sherry tasting after lunch with THE sherry man cesar seldana, was interesting but sherry just isnt to my taste!
friday- end of week 4! time is flying by. wild garlic soup 6/6 piperonata 6/6. good mornign in the kitchen. I also recived a parcel from Jess at home filled with goodies from cath kidson! was very pleased plus...my ipod charger!! cant believe i left it at home! spent the evening chilling (literally) in the courtyard and then went to the goalpost pub down the road till late. Oh and today i ate my first oyster and perry winkle! yum... "/
saturday/sunday- farmers market for my hot chocolate and then had pizza in midelton. Then went to the Jameson disterilery for a tour of the old factory, was pretty gutted we didnt get to see the present distilery but i soon got over it as i was so tired and just wanted to go to bed!When we got back home i had my nap and then we had a bbq and people from al the cottages came and it on in to the night and eended up washing up at 2 in the morning as we could the kitchen counter for plates. Sunday morning i woke up painted my toes, watched sex and the city and ate chocolate and a shower and then went to "soul and seafood" which was about an hours drive away at a pub by the sea and i brought a big tub of mussels and listened to a soul band play, was a good sunday after noon. bed early!
monday-same kitchen, different teacher, different working partner, Aly! I made a seafood platter with oysters,mussels,clams,sea urchin,perry winkles and made gingerbread and strawberry and rubarb compte. all full marks! afternoon was on the perfect steak and sides. I revicived another parcel of ed and maxene with more goodies! was a good day..
Tuesday- good day in the kithen, bakewell tart the most labour intensive ratatouille and i had to grill my own steak to my liking for my lunch. yum! my teacher was very impressed with my mornings cooking.afternoon demo was breakfast with Rory. It was also one of the girls birthdays in the house and so we celebrated her birthday in the evening and i made a massive pavolova as her birthday cake.Kate made a song about the "barn house crew" which was very good, i also skyped back home which was nice as everyone was home.
wednesday-theroy day, and super tired from the late night last night. and a whole day of sitting in a hot room trying to pay attention. was a beef demo in the morning and then ate it for our lunch. its good as we get a tea break in the morning with cake so splits the day up abit. afternoon wasnt great...i got shouted at by a teacher for talking and i had to move to the front of the class, i felt like i was in high school again, it didnt go down at all well. the evening was spent b****ing about the horrible teacher haha!good tiiimes.
thursday-another good day in the kitchen, and i won a bottle of wine for the best fry up in our kitchen out of 20 other people, i was so impressed as iv never made a fry before and i beat everyone! woo! lunch was my winning fry with bucks fizz and granola! afternoon was on flat fish then after demo i went to cork city with a girl in my house to do a little shopping and didnt get back till late so went for a shower then when i got out i got soaked with water down my back by one of the lads in the house so i got suepr angry ran back to my room filled a glass of water and threw it over him and his bed, he hasnt messed with me since! haha
friday- filleted a flat fish and got told i was pro. made a red hot chilli con carne with gucacmole and did some other bits to practise for my EXAM next friday. next week will be half way through the course and so we get tested on things we have learnt such as filleting fish, jointing chicken etc.. fun "/ looking forward to the bank holiday weekend now though...
