Another early day... Heading out of Scotch Creek and the Shuswap Lake region we passed some more amazing scenery.. We had a couple of stops at not so significant sights but got to Lake Revelstoke where 12 people could go kayaking- I originally said no anyway bcos I'm trying to budget and don't want to blow my money in the first week! I'm glad I did say no! It was a nice lake but pretty small and for $45 it was the biggest waste of money! I went for a swim instead- I was the only one game enough but another guy ended up getting in too. It was pretty cold! But the ice had only finished melting about two weeks ago! There was a pontoon so lay on that for a little while- who would've thought it'd be so warm in Canada and it's not even summer!! I think I might've even gained a bit of a tan! It's funny being in bathers when snowy mountains are all around!!
Was chatting to the older couple on our tour- cannot believe they live next door to grandma and grandpa!!!! Unbelievably small world!!!
Headed off on the bus- again!- to banff. Had a couple more stops including emerald lake, which was cold, however in normal louise custance attire I was in shorts, thongs and a shirt! The scenery throughout the trip was spectacular- it got sunny again as we got closer to banff. It was pretty interesting because we passed an avalanche prone area which has been known to have up to 44 avalanches a day and receives about 12 metres of snow a year!!
Nicole the driver/guide took ages to get us to the HI Banff where we had tea and the others stayed. We got there at about 8:30pm when we were supposed to arrive at about 7.. Tea was good though- had a big caesar salad. The hockey Stanley Cup playoffs were on again, only Vancouver lost this time. Nicole drove me and a couple into the town where I was staying at the SameSun hostel. Everyone was in bed when I got there which was annoying. It didn't get dark until just before 10:30!!! Could only find one ear plug- which for me is a nightmare!
