Crossed back into British Columbia not long after leaving Banff.. I was feeling pretty good this morning despite a terrible sleep!! Spoke to Tom in the morning and then smashed down breakfast. The idiot I am remembered just as I got onto the bus that I had left my iPhone charging upstairs in the kitchen! Haha headed back along the highway past many things we had already seen, but the weather was much more ordinary than other days!
Was aware it was meant to be a fair bit of driving, stopped at a couple of places including Lake Revelstoke again, a dutch dairy farm and a great view overlooking the Kalamalka Lake and surrounding town.
We were all pretty sleepy but our next stop was (supposed to be) a wine tour and tasting at Arrowleaf Wines.. Apparently there was only one person (a stuck up snob) there so we couldn't do the tour!! I wasn't really that bothered though because I've seen a few wineries coming from SA anyway. I tried three wines- I didn't want one of the reds- I had started feeling less than fantastic afterwards anyway! the winery had a great view over the region and the lake though.
Continued a little way to Kelowna- a city of about 100 000 people. I was feeling pretty s*** again but had to walk 1.6km from the other hostel to where I had previously booked. The hostel had a bright homely feel to it and the guy was friendly enough. Wasn't the most modern place but chilled out with hammocks and stuff- was just hoping I could get a better sleep than last night with all the banging around upstairs from 2:30-4:30am!!!
Went for a walk to the downtown area via the lake/beaches... The hostel is near the hospital but in a really nice leafy green area and I really like the landscaping they have everywhere!! It has a good feel to it from a design perspective, but still plenty of weirdos floating around the city park and centre.. The main reason is probably because everyone normal would be watching the big 'game'- game five of the stanley cup playoffs! So was pretty quiet around town. Was feeling s*** again so headed back to the hostel- no Kelowna nightlife for me!!! Didn't even go to the hostel where the others were because I was in a bit of pain!
Fortunately noone else had checked in so I got the double at the base of one of the bunks with noone else in the room (score!!)!!
