Salamat Datang Kuala Lumpur!
Well, today is the first day of our adventure. Its currently 5.30pm and its still extremely hot, like being in a 24hr sauna, thank god for air conditioning!
We arrived at our hotel at 10pm last night. The journey here was very looong, a 12hr flight which was delayed, then a further 2hrs through heavy traffic to our hotel. We had absolutely no sleep on the flight, our seats were the most uncomfortable seats ever, so Mia was very stroppy (she's awful when she's tired) but the food was nice. Our hotel is lovely, very grand and central to the main streets of Kuala Lumpur (KL). We had a wicked breakfast this morning - croissants, toast, cereal, fruit...ummm! Our room is also very comfortable. We raided the mini fridge as soon as we got there because and we found chocolate inside! Just hoping that we don't get at huge bill a the end of our stay. KL is an amazing city. So much to see.
Today we met up with Mr Lim and he took us to the Batu caves. Its an Indian Temple set in the most magnificant caves. Its a 200 step climb to reach it and in temperatures reaching 32C its a tough trek, but good preparation for our forthcoming mountain climb. I got blessed in the Temple by a Hindu priest! Not sure what the priest said to me but he gave me a white thumb print on the forehead, a sign to say my soul had been cleansed apparently! Anyway, the next stop was a Chinese Temple, wow! That was amazing. We both lit some incense sticks and prayed to the Chinese God. We then ventured onto a Bhuddist Temple, very enlightning. Beautiful Buddha sculptures everywhere. Very peaceful and serene. The final place we went to was an Islamic Mosque. We will post the pictures up shortly, but just to let you all know, Mia shall now be known as Muminah and I shall be known as Takiyah. We were so taken with the splendour of this place that we have converted to muslim
We are now at Mr Lims house updating this blog. Mr Lim is an excellent tour guide and we thank him very much for showing us his home town. We're off to experience real chinese food in a bit...not sure how our stomachs will take it seeing as we've never experimented beyond Chicken Fajitas, but hopefully, after a day of being blessed from a multitude of Gods, we should be ok.
Hope everyone is keeping well and missing us lots. We will be in touch soon with lots of photos xxx
