Today was Conor's first birthday!!! We went for a walk on the beach as the sun was rising after our coffee and it was so amazingly beautiful!
Of course we went swimming for a hour to get some energy infused into our day..
Made some bag lunches and off we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center for the day. We took in many cool shows, learned to play the ukulele, watched a canoe pageant, traveled to the different cultures of Samoa (we made fire, husked a coconut and got the milk and and juice from it and of course tree climbing), Hawaii (took ukulele lessons) and explored acres of gardens. By the time we left we were ready for some down time.
Gerald and Jen made a nice steak birthday supper and we had pineapple (from a whole blended pineapple) coconut rum colada's while we visited and watched some Olympics.
The weather started very hot, (I can't believe I'm saying this, but too hot) but then it cooled off some when it clouded over.. Thank goodness.
I can't believe we have only been here 3 days!!! There is so much to take in, beautiful sand beaches, hot tropical weather, huge waves, different foods, new languages, so many new things around every corner. The kids are learning so many new things you could never teach from a book. An example is Nolan said he read today 80% of the Hawaiian people use solar energy to power their houses. Then you can see everyone with the solar panels on their roofs and why not as the sun beats down here 365 days a year. Today was great, can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
