Hello!
Just come in from a hectic day. Me leigh and Euge went to the Ang Thong National Marine Park. Was Awesome. For the equivalent of 22 pounds we got a transfer from hotel to pier, an hours boat trip to the marine park, breakfast, kayaking, snorkelling, saw a well nice lagoon called emerald lake, lunch, elephant trekking, gibbon watching and a transfer back. Not bad.
We left Changweng 3 days ago i believe and headed south to Lamei which is another reasonably busy town in Koh Samui. Euge, being the active soul decided to take one for the team by sitting down and letting me and leigh go off in search for some accommodation. We found 1 truly horrific place but it did cost 3.20 a room per night so we can understand why. We did however land a little beauty called the New Leaf Resort. For 250 bhat a night per person which is the equivalent to 4.20 a night we got a 3 bedded hut pretty much on the beach with a pool and porch and is just awesome...take a look at the photos when theyre finally done.
The beach here isnt quite as nice as Changweng, its sand is a bit more gritty but despote that we still strolled onto the beach with our magnificent white bodies taking a beating from the sun, euge and leigh more so than me but still im looking rather pasty.
Next day was a pool relax day but it started late as we all struggled to get out of bed becasue of the freezing air conditioning kept us awake along with the whirling of the fan. We also found our local restaruant where they specialise in cheap sandwiches for around 80-90p for one. THey were LUSH! weve also become theyre favourite customers (welol in our opinion) so hopefully well get a free meal as were leaving tomoro. As were on the subject of food were going to a bbq place where they have a special burger called the Stag Burger...200g of pure meat with bacon cheese egg tomatos and onions and im wearing a plain white shirt...uh oh!
As i mentioned before we went to a marine park. It was really really beatiful every where we went. Hopefully the pictures will do them justice but i dont think anything will compare to the emerald lake. its a hidden lake in an island roughly 32km west of Koh Samui with the rest of the national park. Ill let you make up your mind with the pictures but i dont think ive seen anything so spectacular from the mountain top view point.
We went elephant trekking later in the day, even though they didnt look well and underfed they were still so impressive and so gentle. Its hard to explain how horrible it is to see them being beaten with the blunt end of what is the equivalent of a sye. They were bony and you could see where the muscle had weakened and became smaller but they were still brilliant to look at and riding them was also an experience despite mine and leighs one was pretty old. As we were wondering back we noticed a monkey bound by its neck to a tree. It seemed to be having a good time swinging backwards and forwards but it still seemed cruel for it to have little room to do what it does naturally and best...swing from the trees. Gibbons spend all their lives living in the canopies and only end up on the floor if they have fallen whilst swinging so it must be strange for the little fella though he did put his cojones on show for us which i managed to get a shot of! it was nice to see up close how agile they are and its no wonder theyre the fastest canopy dwellers in the world, though leigh and euge didnt particularly respect that!
As i put earlier we are leaving tomoro and are heading off to Koh Phangan, where we will be looking for accommodation for the full moon party, but for the time being just be looking to beach it up some more and get a healthy glow. I did try to upload about 100 pictures earlier but it didnt seem to work, or did it? im not too sure as i keep getting different messages but i will be uploading them soon if they have failed. Were starving so gunna go mes sup my shirt with a juicy stag burger. Take care everyone and remember to leave me a message to tell me how ure getting on. Peace
