Well our dear little brother informs us that it's been far too long since the last update, sorry about that. Here goes with the last few weeks of Ludeb in Melbourne….
As Sally and Toby left for their East coast road trip, we welcomed new housemates Jenni (pohm) and Dean (aussie) into the house and then Chris arrived the same week. As Chris was waiting for his plane to land, me Lucy and Vickie were enjoying the hotel facilities with the help of wine of course!! Lucy went to meet Chris at the airport (and was late!) and me and Vickie continued the party at Ding Dongs moving onto cocktails!
Kit and I had an early wake up call on the morning of Lucy's birthday the the police turned up at 8.30am to search the house for drugs - turned out our landlord was a bit of a naughty boy!! After that excitement we got to work putting balloons up and gaffer taping the door to say 'happy birthday Lucy' and then Kit attached a balloon to Lucy's birthday hat. Needless to say, Luc was well chuffed with the hat!! Haha Chris and Lucy made scones and later we ordered pizza and then picked up the St Kilda crew to go dancing at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow in St Kilda wearing our party hats still of course.
Vickie had a lovely Sunday afternoon planned for us at Melbournes chocolate festival where we enjoyed tasting chocolates and drinking chocolate and dressed up as chocolate. We then discovered an over 18 section and got front row positions for the show which was a bit of a surprise and gave us new dance moves for 'eye of the tiger'! If there's one thing we didn't expect to see at 1.30 on a Sunday afternoon at a chocolate festival it was girls topless jelly wrestling!!
The trampolining competition continued with Chris, Dean and Jarred joining in although they didn't do so well with the swivels. Chris did manage a grand total of 2 and put his own style into it whereas Dean and Jarred ditched the swivels in favour of somersaults!!
Bonnie still reigns queen of swivels with 9 and I take second place with 8. Think I was probably the only one actually in competition though!! Haha
Chris was kind enough to invite me along to meet his Great Aunt and Uncle in Glen Waverly, Lucy came too of course! Haha. We had a look around their stationary shop and their beautiful house before going for a yummy meal.
Naomi arrived back at the weekend from her central Australian adventure having had a brilliant time so we celebrated with a night out in the city. This did mean that we weren't feeling our best when we met welcomed Sally back and waved goodbye to Toby on Sunday!!!
Finally it was time to meet Connor, Dylan, Steve, Max, Dr Karl and Paul Robinson from neighbours at the legendary neighbours night held at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow in St Kilda. We decided that there was no option other than fancy dressed and decided on pirates. Chris dutifully got to work fashioning us Cuttless' out of card, gaffer tape and silver foil and they were awesome!! Paul Robinson and Karl Kennedy took them on stage when they were singing!! I got pirate tattoos off the cast on my arms while Lucy, Naomi and Sally were busy winning prizes!!
Sally and I felt a little worse for wear when we had to catch a bus at 4am from the city after about 2 hours sleep, if that, and a little bit of alcohol!!! It was worth it though, no better cure than a good ski. We went to Mount Buller for the day, about 4 hours from Melbourne and although the pistes were no match for France, we had a brilliant day. A definite highlight for me was Sally falling over when she was just stood still!! Haha nevermind eh Sal.
Chris managed to borrow a car off his cousin to go down the Great Ocean Road. I had work unfortunately but the others had a great time and made it to the 12 apostles where they saw whales! There's also a funny story about the Torquay sign involving a lot of dashing around I think but they'll have to fill that bit in.
When they got back, me and Sal made up numbers for Jenni's netball team. I made one awesome interception and that was about it. Sally really p***ed off the other team by marking them! Go Sal.
Sally left next day to go to Perth (we accidentally gave her the wrong flight date! Oops) while me, Lucy, Chris and Naomi got ready for our last night out in Melbourne together with our housemates, Vickie and the country energy boys.
It was a sad occasion leaving the Ellington Street house and all it's quirks, the end of the Ludeb in Melbourne era.
Next stop, Perth - A Shaw holiday!! Yay (with Naomi and Chris!)
