Hi everyone,
I hope you're al ok. This is just a quick udate. I wanted first to thank sita suez (I hope that's right) who donated a huge amount of pencils before I started my trip. I have tried t attach some photos of the children who the pencils went to, but failing that I will try and explain. There are 170 children in the nursery school. They should be 3-6, but the oldest are 13. They can't affors 50 pounds a year for primary school. There are 30 orphans in my class, and 40 who can't afford nursery school fees. Several are HIV positive. Today, when they were given their own pencil, their faces lit up, and I am so grateful for that, so thank you.
I'm having an amazing, but challengin time here. When I see another child crying, without shoes or uniform, or without a pencil and book, it makes me thatbit more upset. I enjoy my lessons, I teach the lower class the abc and numbers, the second class basic words and sums, and I am starting standard one and two work with those who shuold be in primay school. Tonight I am writing the mid term exams.
My head teacher is brilliant. The staff at art in tanzania are great, and I love the people in our house. There are usually about 2 of us and we have a great time. We have good food, and there are a lot of things t do at te weekend (swimming) and in the evenings (though not always te best idea, there are some great bars) I'm enjoying being around so many people my age.
Anyway, I have t go to teach Masai. I'll speak to you all soon, and see you in four weeks!
Lots of love xxx
