We hired a car for 2 days to do the Great Ocean Road ! It was great that we could stop when we wanted and not be with 20 other tourists! The Landscape was stunning and we had great views as the road winded around the coastine! First stop was Bells Beach, just south from Jellong! A top surf beach but no chance we were going in the water as it was freezing... Air temp was about 13 degrees! After having lunch here we travelled onto Split Point lighthouse! The famous lighthouse where 'Round the Twist was filmed! Impressive lighthouse 35 metres tall! Next stop was Lorne a small touristy seaside town - not much character though so we only stopped just enough time for a hot chocolate :-)! We made our way onto Otway National Park where Erskine Falls where! Pretty falls with impressive trees in the backdrop.. they are meant to be ones of the tallest in the world! We carried onto Appollo Bay in time for sunset! We spent the night here in a cute little backpackers overlooking the ocean! Very homly and even had electric blankets as it was so cold!... felt like an old granny haha! Have to admit it was nice though :-). We had an early start the next morning as we had to make it back to Melbourne! First stop of the day was Triple Falls in Cape Otway National Park... 3 sets of falls which we viewed while doing an hours looped walk! We travelled back onto the Great Ocean Road to see the famous 12 Aposltes... very impressive! Amazing that nature can create such features! The sun wasnt shinning though when we arrived which was ashame! So we were wrapped up in our winter warmers! We then carried onto whats called the ''Blow Hole'' a huge tunnel that extends 100 metres inland! We stopped in Port Cambell to be very English and have tea and scones lol! We travelled as far as Peterborough then took the inland Route back to Melbourne arriving back in St Kilda for 8pm. It was a good 2 days definately one of my favourite parts of OZ! Nice to get off the touristy track and be in the middle of nowhere!
