Hi! We're in Chiang Mai now! Got the overnight train and pretty much loved it here straight away, its so much more chilled out than Bangkok, and everyones real friendly!
Once we got into the area with all the guest houses it was great, everythings really close together and we found the night bizarre which was massive, rob ate frogs for dinner! they were they little kfc froggies, yummy! (we've been in 3 different guest houses, because we're in low season pretty much everywhere has a spare room so its easy switch between)
After dinner we realised we were out of cash and all our cards wouldn't work, slight panic but luckily they were just blocked coz we forget to tell our banks we were in thailand opps! (thanks mum and dad for getting the numbers and everything!) they were fine by the next day and even played rob a victory tune when he withdrew his money, pretty funny!
We went on a boat cruise up the river wednesday and ended up in suprise herb garden and massive abandoned looking restaurant and it was just me and rob so was funny. they made us herb juice! which i managed to drink with robs help, it was pretty interesting! then they gave us massive bowl of fruit to eat while comedy chicken watched us!
yesterday we went on a cooking course to an organic farm outside of Chiang mai, went to a market first and our teacher Sue (probably not the right spelling!) told us what different things were and we realised the night before we'd eaten solidified chicken blood in our stir-fry, yum!
cooking course was great everyone real friendly, we made 6 different things each and ate loads of it for lunch! brilliant day, we'd seen so many cooking courses in the city but this was better as we got out into the countryside.
Tomorrow we're off on a 3 day trek! Elephant riding (i cannot wait!) bamboo rafting, staying with 2 hill tribes and waterfall swimming! Pretty excited!
think we're back down to bangkok after then then hopefully going to vietnam! Will keep you all posted, lotsa love Lucy and Rob xxxx
