So everyone was hungover after the Poo Pub Party but we all managed to get up and on the bus in time! It was bye-bye fairy costume, but we kept Mikes lion as he doubles up as a pillow and we (well, I) couldn't bare to leave him! Drove to Pukekura the The Bushman's Centre which is known as one of the most politically incorrect places in the world.Probably not a place the guy who did a speech about the Poo Pub Party theme would have appriciated! Its basically a little museum about how people living on the West Coast of New Zealand have made a living through activities like possum trapping and helicopter deer recovery. Its not like any other museum we've ever been too though! Lots of funny but definatly un-pc signs around and loads of little tricks around! By the possum cage theres a switch that says "Click for the wetter experience" and basically shoots a jet of water in your face!! I managed to avoid it but it caught so many people out which was funny! Mike did stitch me up however, I went through a gate which I didnt realize was attached to a pully which made a possum skin dangle on my head - it was gross!!! Totally freaked me out! There were three doors under the toilet sign then just a massive picture of the owner sat on the loo with a shotgun and an occupied sign. Outside there was a boar and a wallabe and there were lots of stuffed animals which were pretty creepy. Then we watched a film about the history of helicopter deer recovery, which is a nice name for it! RSPCA would have loved it.... not! When I went to the proper toilets I got caught out with another pully and a boot flew out and kicked me which scared the life out of me, didn't trust anything there by the end of it! Strange place but kind of summed up the West coast!! After leaving I could relax at last as we headed down a gorgeous drive into the rainforest and to the Franz Josef Glacier Village. The drive there had world heritage status and is recognized as being amongst the worlds foremost natural landscapes. Our accomodation for the night was the Rainforest Retreat which was really nice. When we got there we popped into the little town for some shopping then jumped in the big hot tub at our hostle which was gorgeous. Unfortunately , I felt a bit dizzy when I got out (just because of the quick change in temperature I'm sure) so had an afternoon nap to sleep it off. Got up later to go to the bar and had a few drinks and found out the fancy dress winners. Also entered the Tennis Ball Rodeo, a relay race where you run with a stick between your legs, a tennis ball under your chin, give it to the next person without using hands then they race to the end. Was a lot of fun, the Bill and Ben couple won which was really good because they had won one Canyon Swing voucher for the fancy dress and were going to pay half each to do one each but they won another Canyon Swing voucher for this so will both get to do a free one! Made me and Mike some pasta for dinner then went to bed. Didn't sleep at all well unfortunatly, was coughing all through the night. Wish it had stayed as a one night thing!
