So, we're here!!! Mike and I are currently sat in the internet cafe in Nomads hostel, Auckland. It's 8pm on Thursday night and everything kind of feels unreal at the moment. We've jumped forward in time twice since we woke up 48 hours ago and have only had 2 hours sleep between us... as you can imagine we are pretty shattered. My mum and dad took us to the airport Tuesday afternoon and we said our goodbyes then checked in without any problems. As it always seems to do, the time we had before boarding flew by so we were pretty worried when we saw our flight was closing! Got on fine though thank god, flew with Cathay Pacific and we're really impressed. TV's in the back of chairs as we hoped, with loads of films and tv shows to choose from and you could pick from loads of music and play games too! So, the massively heavy pile of magazines I took, my iPod and Mikes iPhone went untouched for the whole trip :-p Plane was really quiet, when we got on after rushing we were impressed that we were one of the first couples on but we were actually one of the last. By the end of the 11 hour journey, me and Mike were the only people with only one seat each as everyone had spread out either lying down over 4 or having 2 (we thought we'd be well behaved and stay in our own seats but regretted this as we were sooo tired by the end of it as we were flying through the night). Jumped forward in time and got to Hong Kong at 4pm their time, then had 4 hours in the airport. Had some food (McDonalds ofcourse, thought we'd embrase the cultural experience....), stretched our legs and managed to find some chairs to lie on (well i did, Mike had the floor!) but really could have done with some fresh air! It was the night of Chiense new year so would have been brilliant to have stayed and seen the parade but it wouldn't have worked out with our flights. Our next trip, from Hong Kong to Auckland, was again with Cathay Pacific but soo different. Plane was huge and packed, with lots of screaming kids to start!!! Not what we needed. Add to that it was a 10 hour flight, 2 hours longer than we thought, and you can imagine how we were feeling. Flight seemed to take ages, but watched more films to kill time. We managed to drift off but were woken up by some crazy air hostess after an hour (it was her first shift) asking us if we wanted a meal..... at 4am!! Got to Auckland in the end though, really nice airport :-) Sun was shining and it was 22'c outside which was lovely. Got a bus from the airport to the city center which was a really nice drive. First impressions were amazing, such a gorgeous place, could take a photo of anything and it could be made into a postcard. Found our hostel and were so pleased we'd booked a double room with en-suite as we've never wanted a shower so much! Managed to chill out and unpack, then went for a walk all around the city. The hostel is right in the middle which is brilliant, so easy to get around. We came back to sort some stuff out like vouchers, washing etc and had time to beat Mike at a game of table football ;-) Had to sort some stuff out online so have loaded up on coca cola to write this as ive paid for the internet time anyway, but its food then bed now! Soooo sleepy!!!! Missing out on a pool tournament tonight which im pretty gutted about but felt really dizzy when walking round earlier so think an early nights for the best, Got a pretty early start tommorow too for the tour of Auckland, hoping it will be good! So far me and Mike are feeling more like we want to get out of the city, but another night here tommorow should get us ready for the beggining of the Kiwi Ex which we start on Saturday :-) Anyway, off to get some food, will update again when I can! xxx
