Arrived in Airlie Beach early evening on Friday and stayed at a place called Magnums. A girl called Adeleine I met on the bus and I decided to upgrade to a cabin of eight people in the hope of getting a bit more sleep but had a bunch of Australian teenage boys put in with us who were extremely noisy and excitable and even ate my bloody takeaway pizza from the fridge in the middle of the night!! Not liking the Ozzies this week! Airlie Beach is something and nothing - a nice enough area but the main street is just full of bars and hostels so not all that pretty a town. However I was here for the sailing and the sailing was amazing! Left at 9.30 on Sunday and spent three full days and two nights on the boat. Ended up on Ileola's sister boat called Friendship as Ileola was having some work done. Seemed a fair swap tho and got some lovely people. There were 12 of us in total (10 girls and 2 boys all in our twenties) plus two crew - Ian the italian chef and Jai the skipper. They were both also very nice and good at their jobs - never had such good food in my life! We had brilliant weather and fully made use of the beaches and views - check out the photos but no laughinh too much at me posing in the surf on Whitehaven beach!!!! When we got back on Tuesday we all went out for food and drinks till the early hours. Went to a greta place called Paddy Shenanigans that had a live band. I danced for hours and hardly remember going home!
Im leaving Airlie tonight to go down to a little town called 1770 - I get the bus at 23.50 and get in at 09.30 so i doubt I'll get much sleep! But i'll write again soon and put the captions next to my photos when i get time! xx
