Well after the delights of Airlie Beach I headed down to the town of 1770 and Agnes Water. They are very quiet places on the Coast - theres only been a main road into Agnes for 4 years so its quite a new destination to us backpackers! I stayed in a lovely hostel called Cool Bananas which has yet to be beaten in terms of cleanliness and general niceness of the facilities! I had 5 nights there in the end - because its so new and not many backpackers know about it everything is very cheap. I went for my first surf lesson (picture in the album!) for $16.50 for 2.5 hours. Thats the equivalent of about six pounds sixty pence! Can you believe it - let this be a lesson to all those people who are paying $60 for 2 hour lessons down the coast!!
I also went up in a 4 seater aeroplane for $60 for about 45 mins of flying! we flew for about 20-25 mins to a deserted beach and then landed and went for a walk and collected shells and things before flying back! The pilot Bruce was great - and i got to fly the plane too! he's taking the photo thats in the album! Briliant fun but a little scary when he started doing stunts! The other thing i did was to go for two Scooteroo tours (the pictures of me on the chopper!) We rode around the area of agnes water and 1770 for about 50km - took about 3 hours and ended up by the beach eaten potato wedges and drinking beers as the sun went down. Got some lovely sunset shots. That tour cost $35 (fourteen pounds) which was a bargain!
I met some great people at Cool Bananas (some who i will probably see in NZ too) we spent the evenings sitting around drinking the cheap boxes of wine and playing drinking games which I'd much prefer to going out clubbing any day! I was lucky with the weather too and spent alot of time in the hammocks with my book - nothing changes eh?!
So on Friday I left to travel down to Hervey Bay where my Fraser Island Trip was booked up...
