Wednesday 21st
We were up very early this morning, about 6:30am, as Granny & Grandad normally get up at this time! We sat and had breakfast then Chris sorted out Grandads wireless internet whilst Helen & I chatted to Granny. Once the internet was sorted we set out for the Zulu Village in 'The Valley of 1000 Hills'. The huts were on the top of a hill and you could see for miles! We were given a tour of a Zulu village with the mud huts, and watched how they make food and a Zulu beer. Chris and I even had a picture taken with a local lady! We listened to the guide to find out how the Zulus used to battle and looked in the Chief's hut! We then took our seats to watch a Zulu dance which started with a story of how a Zulu man proposed to a Zulu woman and the dance that followed. I'm sure the drums could have been heard across the hills! Chris and I then walked around a crocodile farm and met Junior - a massive crocodile!
We then took a short drive to a place called 'The Pot & Kettle' - a restaurant overlooking the hills. The scenery was fantastic. We walked around all the curio shops then met with Granny & Grandad for lunch (calamari count 4).
As I type this the weather is 33'C and we've just stepped out of Granny's pool in the garden! It was pretty cold but once you get in it's lovely to get cool and out of the sun! We are off to Stephanie & Peter's place tonight for a braai (BBQ to us English people) with 20 people . Looking forward to it!! I shall try uploading some more photos of the past couple of days but even though we now have wireless at Granny & Grandad's my uploads will destroy the monthly usage!!
Wednesday 21st eve
We all had a great time at Steph & Peter's BBQ. There were around 20 of us all enjoying a braai, sat outside in the very warm evening heat! Chris' cousin Paul had returned from his trip so all the boys had a good catch up and had a 'family photo'! We spent most of the evening playing pool - I won quite a few times which, given I was the only girl playing, impressed the boys I think ;) I got to meet some of the old family friends including Neil & Marilyn who used to be involved with the Scouts when Chris was younger. Marilyn had even remembered Chris's favourite pudding 'Peppermint Crisp Pudding' and had made one especially! We swapped stories of what we're all up to now and then shared jokes about the TV programme 'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings'!! Fair to say we all shared the same view!!
