Ever so sorry for the delays in updating, there's been a lot going on and we haven't really had much opportunity to come on here and get it all down. We've been exploring quite a lot.
On Wednesday we went to the Golden Gate bridge - at the time we were still getting used to the bus system, and we were actually aiming for Baker Beach, but got off at Golden Gate instead and decided to stick around and find some waves if we could.
We walked down to the sea from the visitor area of the bridge (which is huge and very impressive) and followed the track down to some small very Mogg's Eye-like beaches. Jogging must be San Francisco's favourite pastime, there were millions of them about in their tracksuits with dogs and pushchairs, you name it. Some more enthusiastic than others...
Anyway, so we hung about a bit on the beach, it was a tad windy so there were loads and loads of windsurfers and kitesurfers in the water. It was quite clear so we could see out to Alcatraz and Angel Island. We also found a really good supermarket at the end of the pier which we have returned to since!
Since then we've had some fun nights at the hostel, also arranged to trade in some of our housekeeping duties for party planning with Diana, the head of housekeeping's girlfriend, which should be a lot of fun! We're thinking international night, with everyone in some kind of national attire. Mayo and I are planning on being Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse (in dress rather than behaviour, of course!). There are loads of great people at the hostel, we've made friends with loads of the other staff most of all, they're all around our age or a little bit older. We all live in the same area of the hostel so that's cool.
Today's our day off and Becky and Ariel have gone to check out a record store on Haight, which is a really cool area of San Francisco...I'm chilling out here as I'm pretty knackered after our first week.
Hope this is a sufficient update, I'll try to keep it up!
Lots of love
L
