Karaoke in Zanzibar!
Singing karaoke in Zanzibar was not on my bucket list, but tonight I added it and checked it off! Ha ha. We sang "I wanna dance with somebody" by Whitney (Abella, MaryAnne and Susan) and Adele (MaryAnne and Abella). Ok first let me go back to this morning and catch everyone up. We awoke bright and early for breakfast at the resort which included a buffet of toast, cookies, fruits, HOT DOGS, and omelets! (Andrea, if you are reading this, apparently hot dogs are a gourmet food!)
After breakfast (and some delicious African café) we headed to the beach for a walk. It was low tide and so we were able to see the algae farms and the locals collecting the algae to be shipped to china. We also collected some beautiful shells along the way. The colors of the Indian Ocean on the coast of Zanzibar are amazing!
After buying some paintings along the beach, we hung out by the pool and relaxed in the hammocks. Next, our friend Kipe picked us up for a tour of Jozani Forest and a Spice Tour. Outside of Jozani, we saw red colobus monkeys. On the spice tours, we tasted black pepper, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, jack fruit, and lots of other exotic and tasty fruits. Upon our return to the resort, we enjoyed a special night with a traditional Zanzibarian musician and dinner by the pool. We ate barracuda caught this morning off the shore and enjoyed a bottle of CabSav from South Africa.
We are having an amazing time! Love to you all back at home and Congrats to our friends at Children's who moved into our brand new ED today!
