Got into Luang Prabang and searched for a guesthouse, found one for $10, one for $20 and one for $30. The girls opted for the $30 and it's nice.
Hit an alley with street vendors and got dinner and a beer for under $2 each, you could live cheap here!!
Did all the normal tourist stuff in LP, temples, shops, markets and cafes. Very laid back relaxing place. Rented motorbikes and drove to the waterfall and around the city.
We had trouble getting flights to Siem Reap so we split up, George/Janis flew out this morning and we'll meet them in Siem Reap in two days.
Spent a very relaxing day, reading and walking around LP. Found a great little cafe on the river with perfect sunset view over the Melong.
Since we headed north from Pai the food has been getting more unusual, our stomaches are rebelling so some bland recognizable food will be in order for a few days. As we headed north the Thai soup with sticky rice that we all enjoyed started to include more and more inedible parts. The last soup we had in a Hmong village had huge chunks of aloe Vera, lemon grass, ginger and bones, none of which was edible. The street food we had the previous night included river weed, I'm not sure that was a great choice!!
Last day in LP we did the museum and watched the sunset from our favorite cafe on the Mekong. A fruit shake for less than a dollar with a million dollar view.
