Left diamond lake about 9.45. Had breakfast from food we had bought at the store. Walked down to the moorings for last look at lake and mountains. Weather good altough wind keeping it cooler. Still warm to us. Drove on the 138 and then joined 97 north. Journey about 97 miles. This road was straight through the very large forests as far as the eye could see. Very little sign of humans. Eventually could see the mountains bounding bend ahead some with snow on.

We passed lots of sprawling strip malls going into bend which was larger than i imagined and busy with traffic. Bend had a population of anout 80,000.

Google maps helped us find our accommodation which is in a residential area about a good five minutes walk from the beginning of down town or main town centre. The time was 12 ish . Our accommodation is a vacation rental and is a quaint artists loft. It is on a nice neighbourhood and had parking. We were too early to book in but could go inside using the pass keypad code. It had not been cleaned yet but looked very different to our other accommodation.

We left the car and walked into bend downtown. Wide open streets with lots of small shops. Very pleasant feel. Found a cafe and we had a chicken and pesto sandwich and a marionberry scone (rock cake to us brits). Walked around the clothes, antiques and book shops. Lots of pokomon!!!met a helpful shop keeper who gave us some good pointers for tomorrow.

Martin bought a book in the book shop as he had finished his holiday reading. We walked back to the car and house rental and were able to get in and unpack. The loft is great very airy with lots of books and art work and a kitchen and dining area. Once unpacked we drove to find michaels craft store which is on the north side of town. This is on a shopping mall and is huge. Lots of craft stuff. Bought some washi tape. Went to target a general store with food and bought some more cereal and fruit and dinner. Also found hobby lobby (what a bonus) lots of craft stuff and paoer but i resisted. Martin bought a usa christmas ornament. Drove back to the loft and cooked meal. ( microwaved!!) watched a new usa series called good place starring ted danson. Ok hope it gets to the uk. Then bed
