Alright!! Here it is. It's going to be a long one becuase we've crammed quite alot in and not written anything.
So we left you with the suspense of our Whitsunday trip, and since then we've also been to Fraser Island, and many other places so here is the lowdown.
Our Whitsunday Maxi Sailing trip encorporated 3 days and 2 nights cruising around the Whitsunday Island National Park on an ex-racing yahct called 'The Card'. It was a very pretty 3 days with impressive scenery, just amazing islands covered in rainforest, surrounded by colourful reef absolutely loaded with fish. We had 3 seperate snorkelling sessions and the best one was at a place called Hayman Island where there is a resident Fish over a 1m long called Elvis. Apparently he was friendly and you can stroke him but I wasn't so sure. However, we took an underwater disposable and hopefully got some good snaps. Hayman Island is also one of the few 6* Hotels in the world so we weren't allowed anywhere near it!!! When the boat is in full set and sail it literally tips at a 45 degree angle and you're clinging on for dear life but its such good fun. The first night we stayed out in the ocean moored in a bay but the second night was on an island called South Molle. This island is completely owned by the owner of the company we did our trip with and he's basically set up a club 18-30 and everyone comes off the boats and partys all night. This was great fun but at 1 in the morning, slightly under influence, we had to get into a small speedboat and clamber back onto the big boat and sleep or try. It was such a cool few days but was nice to step back on mainland. I felt like like I was still on a boat for about 2 days after. Richard Branson has his own private island in the Whitsundays so that is an indication of how sought after this place is, and apperntly his boat also coast $10,000 AUD to fill up. Thats basically the Whitsundays.
On and on once again. Next stop was a small town called Agnes Water. We would compare it to Croyde Bay, a sleepy little place with amazing waves. We both had a 3 hour surfing lesson, stu stood out as being better than every one as we were mostly all beginners. I had to share a little board (because i was smallest) with an italian girl who wouldnt give it back to me when it was my turn! the surf instructor looked like he was from a cartoon, he had the same figure as Santa, was about 50 and wore cow print trousers with a tight fitting bright red rash vest! i managed to stand up twice and since then we have bought 2 new surf boards to go in our van! its now slightly cramped but we saw a VW camper with 4 people, surf boards, luggage and fishing rods so we thought we had plenty of room! we bumped in to the skipper from the whitsundays there so that was nice :)
From there we went to Hervey Bay which is where we were going to Fraser island on a 4x4 jeep safari. There was 3 groups of us in huge '4-bies' where we were dropping down jumps, driving along the beach, camping in such basic conditions. the guy that drove our van was nick named Schumacher cos he drove so fast! There was 3 crazy irish girls who drank and swore all day long but they were such good fun and made the trip so memorable. the weather was bad so we were all ready to leave by the 3rd day, having been surrounded by far too much sand and always on alert from dingo attacks! it was so nice to meet new people in those few days because we're pretty isolated in our van! we've called our camper van Vince and it gets so freezing at night, i never thought australia would get so cold!
anyway there's some updates so every one cant complain we havnt updated it for ages!
