And so to work! I have arrived in Lincoln after a few days looking round Buenos Aires and seeing my friend Luz who was brilliant about showing me round and helping me to find my feet. BA is huge so gonna need some time to look round, but have seen Recoleta and the government house so that's a start, although I will need to make a plan for the next time I go to see it all.
Spent a few days in Pergamino about two hours from Buenos Aires on the main ranch of Robert Augspach the person I am working for. It was nice and I met two nieces of his wife's called Anita and Paola who were very cool. Had a relaxed few days although went too a few big meetings with the owners of the various which was cool and quite amusing talking about such things as wheatgrass.
I also managed to do a rugby training session with the local Under 18 team, which was fun and it was good to get back into the swing of things. They are good but could do with some more organization and a little more rugby nous but that will come as they get older.
The next day I went to a town called Roberts near Lincoln about five hours or so from BA. It is literally the back end of beyond, just wide open spaces with no hills and barely any trees. There are two houses and a barn, I am living in one of the houses and Javier, Daniel and Daniel live in the others. I eat my meals with Javier, which tend to be simply meat and pasta and maybe some potatoes. Very basic, but filling and good.
The routine mainly centres round the cattle as they contract all of their crop sowing and gathering. We start at 7.30 and feed the cattle with a mixture of peas, corn and hay, I presume to fatten them up. There is a break from about 11.30 to 14.00, which is helpful so we can relax and eat. It is not that difficult to be honest and its very peaceful and stunning when the sun is going down. Now that I have the routine its going well and the guys I work with are cool and helpful when it comes to speaking Spanish.
