Day 9 - (For some reason Day 8, which I wrote last night, did not get posted like I thought...So quickly...Visited two temples, which were cool for the first 10 minutes...of which we spent 3 hours each....20 minutes of cool stuff in a 6 hour visit combo=tired principal...walked over 10 miles, it rained and I am glad the day is over.) :)
Soooo, Day 9...Best day yet. I got to spend the whole day with teachers and students talking about the Chinese and American High School experience. I am tired...so just some quick hits...
1. Toured PuJi High School and met many wonderful staff and students.
2. Got to observe a few classes and see high school girl and boy dormitories (all students were in class, so no students in the buildings)
3. Had a great conversation over lunch with 10 staff leaders about America, high school education, and family.
4. Got to present to selected staff of about 30 teachers about the American Education System, RVHS and my family.
5. Got to present to 400 Chinese Students about life at Ridgeview HS. They were fun and asked some great questions.
6. When I showed them I had some pens, pencils, key chains and stickers...they rushed me like bulls to a red blanket. These nice, mild-mannered students turned into bag ripping animals. I finally had the bags of items ripped from my hands and scattered on the floor as hey scrambled for a stray pen or key chain. Haven't ever seen something quite like that. Crazy.
Overall, after I counted all my fingers, and still had 10, I felt really good about the day. So nice to finally get to the students and teachers. I have been waiting patiently, and it was all worth it. :)
Well tomorrow is my last day in Wugong County. Wednesday morning I take the "fast" train to Beijing for the last few days of touring before heading home Saturday, It had been a great trip so far...but I sure miss Kylie and the kids. Can't wait to see them. :)
Shi' Shi'!
