Hello Everyone!
Brian is telling me I have to write about Brussels first, you know. Anyway, haha, before we went to Amsterdam, we went to Brussels mainly to see the Manneken Pis. I'll have to put those pictures up to but one at a time! Ok, the train to Brussels was nice, about 45 minutes and we were on a double decker train! Pretty cool, I think. They are much more quiet than the other trains so far. Everything was close together from Brussels Central Station. The Manneken Pis is kind of out of the way and in a corner but really cute! I think he had on some national clothes this time. I enjoyed seeing him and was the highlight of Brussels for me. Then I fell over. Seriously. And if you have a backpack on, you're kind of like a tree and theres no stopping it. And then I had the awkardness of trying to stand back up after I fell over and if you can imagine, it was pretty hilarious. Thank goodness I had the camera or Brian would've been taking pictures. Around the corner was the Grand Place, I think, or at least another grote markt(big market). Everything sure was grand here! We sat at a bench for a while just to look. I don't know really how to describe it, I guess one would say indescribable? We'll have pictures up soon though! Oh, I forgot, the first thing we did in Brussels, since I didn't really find any in Antwerp, was get some chocolate! OMG, the chocolate is sooo much better here. So rich and delicious. Brian just laughed at me. He doesn't understand. It is better. I would never be able to try and bring any back because I would eat it. We also had some friets(fries) with onions, ketchup, and mayonaise. That was also soooo good! And, Uncle Tom, they had toast at the fries stand and Brian may have seen it be a grilled cheese. Not too sure yet. Theres French people in Belgium so its a start to the mystery haha.
On to Amsterdam. That was a long train ride and would have been enjoyable if not for the couple who kept eating candy and smacking it. UGH. Thats all I could hear. And I think I'll stop writing these while Brian looks if he keeps correcting me... its annoying and I do my best. People aren't going to care about a couple of mistakes. Anyway, Amsterdam is pretty cool! Sure, you can smell pot in a lot of places and theres some dirty areas but it a really beautiful place. The canal system is awesome and the streets aren't confusing because a lot of them follow the canals and are small. Waterfowl are everywhere in the canals and its really cute. They mostly make funny noises. The black ducks with white faces kind of make a sneezing noise. Also, everything is small here. The shops, hotels, STAIRS, streets, etc. But cute. In our hotel, the bathroom is actually about half the size of the room. The view is really great too! Right on Damrak Street where we have a view of the old church and canal and street performances. We walked to the Anne Frank House which had a lot of people going inside but we just looked on the outside of it. Its a pretty house... Brian disagrees. I think you can find beauty in anything. Its not a boring house, yeah I walked past it at first, but it does look like the other houses in Amsterdam but those are unique themselves. After that, we went to find a antique store...I'm sorry, mall. I waited outside because I wanted to sit and watch people and stuff. While outside, I met a street cleaner and we only had a short time to talk but he told me today that they were auctioning off a piece of uniform from their national hero. He told me about him and stuff. Very nice guy. I would've liked to ask him more, like what xxx means and why its everywhere. Brian came out and told me I had to see something so I went inside and saw an antique wooden dildo. Thats pretty interesting but I also thought perfect for this place. After that, we went on a search for food and found a little market. Look at our pictures for food. After we ate and saw a wierd cartoon, we went to go see the old church and the red light district. Both were kind of a dissapointment. The tower looks awesome from our window but the base is kind of blah... Next to the old church is where the red light district starts. I thought the women were going to be naked(I thought I read that somewhere) but just had on lingerie. No boobies. There was something like this in Brussels along the train tracks that had multiple stories of women in lingerie and stuff. That was a little more shocking to see actually haha. Now we are just hanging out in the hotel and watching tv. Maybe tomorrow we are going to a beach and then off to Deutchland!
