Today we caught the cable car to Powell St, then the MUNI train to the Golden Gate Park (which is HUGE), and visited the California Academy of Sciences. This educational and interactive museum has a Planetarium and Aquarium and a fabulous restaurant. Admission was included in our City Pass, so it worked out fairly cheaply for us - unless you count the replacement Angry Birds beanie we had to buy Joe on the way home because he lost his new penguin beanie in the Museum!
There were a few school groups there with us, but we still had plenty of room.
I must mention the food here - SF is famous for excellent food, and I have to agree. Everywhere has fresh, organic produce available and there is always a vegetarian option on every menu. After the stodgy greasy pizza or burger options at the Florida theme parks, I am really enjoying the quality of the menu offerings here.
We had a slightly overcast start, and by the end of the day it was quite chilly, with fog rolling in.
I loved seeing the neighborhoods we passed in the train, I love the architecture here.
The public transport is plentiful and accessible, and the cable car drivers are part of the entertainment - they let the kids pull the bell this morning, and always make us laugh.
Have I mentioned that I love this city?
