Heya!
Well i am now in sydney, arrived here yesterday from Melbourne. It was the first leg of my journey on the Oz Bus which was awesome.
After a day in Melbourne sightseeing (docklands, skytower, gardens and lots of trams!)we left early Sat morning stopping off at a national park (which are everywhere in Oz but are amazing all the same) this one is called 'The Prom' and we saw some roos and wombats(Wallies) in the wild. We then grabbed some lunch from a local bakery and headed down to squeaky beach for a picnic with the seagulls. Its called squeaky beach cos it actually squeaks when you walk on it! We saw arock called 'Whale rock' cos its meant to look like a whale (which it doesn't) and a red river which is perfectly fine to drink from etc but has been dyed red by all the tea tree oil from near by eucalyp trees! We stayed at lakes entrance tonight - a man made gap in the shoreline to help fishing!
The next day we stopped at a big rock that jutted out over a cliff edge and had some weird photos taken, we then got to the highlight of the trip which was Snowboarding!!!! (at Perisher Blue for the record) Yes in OZ! only one run was open as it was the opening week of the season but seeing snow was pretty weird! also saw my board and boots for a lot cheaper than what i paid! grrr! we then had a treat in store as our motel had a pool and sauna! bonus! later took part in a pool comp (didnt get very far!)
The last day on the bus we stopped at the capital of OZ Canberra which is a dive - completely deserted and only known for porn and politicians! despite this we had a good afternoon there with a tour of parliament house watching question time and seeing John Howard the primeminister! i'm gonna go more often to watch politicians debate its soo funny! then took one quick last view of the city from a viewpoint at the top of the moutain then headed to sydney where we are now!
today we went sightseeing but to be honest the weather is rubbish (its constantly raining here - there are even floods just up the coast dunno if you've heard). Still we did the skytower (yes another tower), opera house tour and managed to get some tickets for a show tomoz night! we are now just about to head out on the monorail for a night tour of the city and then check out its drinking establishments.
My next leg is sydney to Brisbane where i will meet more family - will write from there!
take care louise xxxx
