Hi!

I arrived in Cambodia this morning. It seems alot different to Thailand.......a lot poorer.

In comparison the areas I saw in Thailand (apart from the villages) were fairly similar to the west in that the streets were fairly tidy there were western brands clearly on sale (there was even a number of Boots shops). One thing I did notice in Thailand was older Western men with Thai girls. Its so sad - one time I saw a man of about 80 with a girl no older than me....not nice.

On the drive from the airport into Phnom Penh it was clear that the people here are not as well off.

The guest house I am staying at is really nice. It has air conditioning and an en suite bathroom (with hot water - yeay!). But it is on a back street which does look a bit dodgy. (But don't worry mum it is really close to the centre, and I am mainly taking taxis everywhere which are very cheap.)

Tomorrow I am going to see the killing fields and the Genocide Museum where more than 13,000 people were killed. Its terrible that all this happened especially as it was only a few decades ago.

I start my next organised tour on Saturday which takes me around alot of Cambodia including Angkor Watt.
