pondicherry
so last weekend we decided that we were due another holiday so 8 of us hired a driver to take us to Pondicherry which is a town on the east coast and is an ex-french colony.
we arrived at 11pm having had a pretty hairy drive over with the driver atempting to kill us at every turn and then getting lost and asking about 40 different people for directions. On our arrival we found the hotel owner their ready to greet us (drunk-obviously!) and a pool filing up with water. we were starving as the driver didnt seem to understand that we required feeding on the 7 hour drive so we had food ordered in for us and a bottle of vodka just for good measure. the owner told us that we could use the pool for as long as we liked and so we didn't get to bed until 4! The weekend was amazing we got to see the sea, eat fish and BEEF! on sunday we played a brilliant game of volley ball, Udiapur Unicorns vs Bangalore babes before having more takeaway curry.
the drive back was even more hairy with the driver actually trying to kill us in the worst over-taking manouver i have ever seen, he tried to get past a lorry whilst another lorry was driving towards us - not cool! also its not like the uk where drivers speed up to overtake they just keep going at the same speed and wait to see who is faster?!
Work
My job is totally ace the kids are wicked, I am now only teaching Wasim in order to get him to the same level as the other kids in the class. in the first week I felt like he didn't really want to learn especially as I was also trying to teach Zaheed who really didn't want to learn and was constantly distracting Wasim but now that it is just one to one lessons every day he is more and more eagar to learn and i cant give him tasks fast enough!
I am so happy in my school and the teachers are so great - they have even talked me into wearing a saree which I will be wearing on at some point this week once i have visited my tailor!
India is still crazy, but weirdly enough i don't have any ridiuculous stories for this week, we've come to the conclusion (me and lucy) that we are so used the bizare things that happen in india that we now no longer notice them.
It costs 15 rupees to get to wor - ridiculous!
security guards in banks get paid 150 rupees a day
i paid 3 rupees for a coffee today
I bought a kitkat for 5 rupees
in a club a barcardi and coke costs 300 rupees
in a stand-up bar a bottle of bacardi (6shots)costs 165 ruppees
if you go on xe.com you will see how crazy these facts are!
