Louise again!
Ok firstly I'd like to point out that the last 2 blogs written by James were not a case of me being lazy but that James sneakily wrote them behind my back when I was a) sleeping - ok a little lazy and b) sat at the computer next to him (I didn't even know he was writing it!).
a few more summaries:
Animals:
There are no monkeys in Goa, at least that we have been able to see. This has shocked me to my core seeing as we are surrounded by lots of countryside and trees and general wilderness. There are a lot of cows though, today I was sat on a sunbed on the beach (which by the way are totally free!) minding my own business when a cow snuck up behind me and plonked its big wet nose on my head! today I saw no less than 19 cows on the beach. (Yes cows are sneaky!)
N.B. I would like to quickly point out that a lady has just lit a fire of wood in a pot in the internet cafe that I am currently sitting in and my eyes are streaming!
Continuing my point about animals: There are also a lot of dogs in Goa and India generally, now everywhere else I have been the dogs have been scared of me and run from me which at the time made me feel a little sad as no dog has ever been scared of me before. In Goa the dogs are all in small packs. On the bit of the beach that we like near Shore Bar there is a pack of about 8 and if another dogs strays across their path there is a lot of barking and all those lazy dogs sleeping under the sunbeds chase off the offending hound. this is fine until they are trying to chase YOU off their land then its pretty scary especially when its pitch black.
Oh and in Agra we saw our first Elephants, that was pretty cool and they were painted in pretty colours, they didn't look sad.
Food:
Quick mention, we have had a few bad food experiences, no we have not had Delhi Belly but not for want of trying!
In Agra we were served chicken that was not cooked at all in 2 seperate restaurants, one of which we had a bit of a row with the staff over whether or not we'd pay for it. We didn't eat it but we did pay, we were in a pretty scary bar and had little choice. Anyway since then we went vegetarian which is great in India because there is so much great food. But Goa is so ace and we have been able to, happily, eat meat again. Even, as it is Christian, bacon! Whoop whoop!
The ridiculousness of James Haydn Sharp:
I'm sure that a lot of people reading this will know the ridiculous things that James says or does but I'd like to highlight a few that I have met so far on this trip:
"I am not going in the sea, there are sharks. Theres no way I'm going anywhere near it" James is a firm believer that at some point during his life he will be bitten in half by a shark. This is ridiculous. Needless to say, especially as it's 33 degrees out, he has been in the sea, he has loved the sea and even gone back for seconds or thirds! But he is DEFINITELY not going in the sea in Thailand! HA!
James doesn't own flip-flops and had to resort to wearing mine when the toilet was leaking!
James doesn't own swim shorts.
"I am not going to shave or cut my hair until I get back to England" needless to say I have had to put my foot down on this one, and, happily, James is now cleanly shaven!
There are more but as I'm currently being eaten alive by mosquitos I will save them for later (maybe that was the reason for the fire!).
Anyway I'm off now as its taken me ages to write this.
Just remember folks, "Lane driving, is safe driving."
P.S.
Mum: Yes it was Sophie Frost, weird when she was bounding towards me on a Goan beach, she sounds super posh now and all Londony and she has dark hair. But she is exactly as I remember her!
Missy: The travelling man has made a few appearances, he likes Goa. When I get to Bangalore I will post some pics! Oh and that little orange card you wrote actually made me cry this morning!
