Rotorua is hot and smelly!
27 degrees today but feels hotter. Haven't been cool all day, now 9.30pm and still melting. Have not stopped drinking (WATER!). Had a brilliant cruise on Lake Taupo last night and the party continued into the Holy Cow bar in town. Great place! Fab night. A bit tired and very slight hangover, but it soon went. Rotorua full of bubbling mud and natural hot springs. A lot of Maouri culture here, learnt loads. Happy to hear the hotel has a pool here so wanted to dip in after the day of being out and about, but it's only bloody naturally heating, ie - HOT! The whiffs of rotting eggs (ie sulphur) is gross. Glad we're only here a day and night as although lots to see and do, it's enough!
Off to a sheep show tomorrow and then Waitamo caves (glowworms etc). Hoping for slightly cooler temperatures. Tour team still getting on fine. Has been interesting to listen to the tour goss of who's hooking up with who etc - so glad I'm older, wiser and not single!
Plans have changed for the last few days. We're not finishing the tour completely. We end up in the Bay of Islands and then are supposed to get the tour bus back to Auckland where we were going to stay for 3 nights. Now we're not going to go back to Auckland and stay for two nights in the Bay of Islands and chill out a bit before making our own way back to Auckland for a night before our flight. Thought that if the weather stays like this, being on the beach (yes, we've found a lodge on the beach) for an extra 2 days would be terrific. And if it rains, we don't care! Nothing can wreck this trip!!
Not coming back with a great tan though as the hole in the ozone layer and my little burn in Kaikoura has made me be very wary. But feeling lovely - no make up or anything at the mo and feel fab.
Love to all!
