Goodbye ihla grande, hello paraty. Our last few days on the island were fantastic and gilles with surprising and interesting encounters. After a good first night with the malbourgh boys, one of whom incidentally lived in parsons green ( metso many Aussies from fulham as well here- matt you would be in your element), on lopes menses which is supposed to be one of the top five beaches in brazil we met Diego, the Rasta who sings and works in our hostel. His two passions on life seem to be reggae and che lagarto ( the hostel we stayed at for the first 2 nights ) so much so that during his sabbatical in October, he's planning to stay in the che lagarto in Lima. Still despite being slightly odd, it was nice being friends with staff. Nights 3 and 4 were spent at a hostel that ha been recommeded by the lonely planet but that has been full for the first two. It turned put to be right next door and owned by the same people so after a totally pointless 100m walk with our bags, we returned to che lagarto for supper and the Brazilian party. Here we met patricio.
Patricio is from buenos aires and is sailing round the islands here for 4 months. He kindly offere to take us in his boat for a day to see the nearby lagoons and beaches After a little persuading he agreed to tale is to paraty instead which is our next stop! It not only saved us the money for a bus but was so so much fun. After a a good final night where we bumped into Eleanor and sabrina we set off yesterday on patricios boat an have just arrived. He took us via the blue lagoons which were so clear and also where I met a Brazilian tv presenter who is apparently famous and also snorkelling and ended up being caught in the middle of a load of tourists taking photos. Last night was spent moored at a beach and we have now finally arrived and are about to go onto town.
Lots of love

G&G Weezy, it all sounds and looks fantastic. We are full of envy and would be tempted to join you but I guess your hostels draw the line at 70 year olds! What a fabulous trip you are having we hope the 'work' bit in Argentina will also prove enjoyable we suggest that oil drilling should not be included in the curriculum. It does not seem to have stopped raining since you left still our swimming is improving although signs of rust on are beginning to appear! Love G&G xxxxx
B&H We envy all the sunshine. Have a swim for us.We shall continue to follow the news. xxx
