6th Sept - Jaipur
Great day in Jaipur - auto rickshaw trip out to Amber and Jaigarth forts - beautiful views, big hill to climb - keeping me fit in the hot sun! Saw elephants, camels and monkeys in and around the palaces - as well as many beggars and street sellers. Had my photo taken with lots of groups of young blokes - have they not seen a western woman before!! You have to keep saying - hands off!
Went to Monkey Palace - guess what full of monkeys and strange men who live there (i think) walking round in loin cloths - oh and lots of cows - well they are everywhere! Very cool though sitting watching the monkeys in a lovely valley which they seem to have taken over!
7th/8th Sept - Pushkar
Train ride to Ajmer - then crazy bus ride to Pushkar - luckily i met an American guy on the train - so there were 2 of us trying to find the right bus - no english signs anywhere! Got on a bus and luckily it ended up in Pushkar - packed though and no-one moves for you or your backpack! When getting off loads of people piled on and instead of waiting for us to get off they just stood, pushed past and laughed - oh India! All worth it though as Pushkar was beautiful and peaceful and the place i was staying at was just heaven (aptly named Inn Seventh Heaven) a beautiful haveli over four floors rooms and balconies overlooking a courtyard - whole place furnished with comfy seats, swings, plants, trees and a few birds flying around... totally chilled place..
Pushkar is a lake city (although the lake is dry - as it was too polluted - not surprising as they do everything in it!) surrounded by temples and ghats - got collared by some guy who said he was a priest and i should pray with him by the lake to make it more pure and the rain will come - some tourist con to get more money - couldnt really get out of it though - all experience!
9th - 12th September - Udaipur
Train ride to Udaipur - no free food on this one! and some guy was trying to chat me up by writing a text message and showing me - plugged in and ignored him! Udaipur is absolutely beautiful a city of lakes - with hills all around as a backdrop- and grand palaces around the city - as well as many interesting streets to wander around full of India life - shops, street sellers, food stalls, people eating, washing, cleaning, making, building, sewing, rickshaws, biks, cows, horses, goats, chickens - much more chilled though than the big cities.
Been here a week and half now - feels like months - but having a great time - missing you all at home though but enjoying the journey i am taking... trying to get my head around India and its total extremes...
sorry no photos at mo - having issues downloading.. will update when i find a pc that likes me! Things will never change! xx
