After getting a few ideas from yesterday's tour guide about areas of the city that are somewhat less touristy, we set out on an ambitious walk today to get a feel for what Prague is like outside of the old town. We explored a few neighborhoods off the beaten path and found some great areas where the locals like to hang out.
Prague is a visually interesting place to explore because the variety of architectural styles gives each block a unique feel. The buildings are also very colourful, which lends the city a certain brightness and positive energy. Prague's history is nicely preserved in its architecture as well because many of the buildings are originals that were spared by the bombings of WWII. Prague had little strategic importance to the Allied Forces, who focused their efforts on German cities like nearby Dresden.
On the way home we popped in to Pivovarsky Dum, a local brew-pub recommended by our guide. Their unique brews included the green beer pictured here that was brewed using nettle, which gave it a herbal aroma and a wonderful taste. Forget green food colouring on St. Patrick's Day: nettle beer for all!
And lastly, our warmest birthday wishes go all the way to Ashdale tonight. Happy Birthday Dad! Love, B&L

Brother Dave We were at that brew pub where I enjoyed the decorations on the wall and we had the wheel of beer, however, I did not care for the nettle beer. That part of town is interesting
