We arrived safely in Darwin on Monday with fellow travellers Abby and Anna after a 10 hour road trip.
Darwin is a small city so hasn't taken us long to look around (the shops) and settle in at the bars.
We packed up luggage and went on a 2 day kakadu trip where we experienced some of the most beautiful sites we had ever seen.
Our favourite part involved us climbing rocks to a very deserted waterfall- Jimjim falls. We swam the freshwater plunge pool for 200m until we reached the waterfall. The water was just above freezing (well it felt like it) and it took our breath away. Although we could feel our organs slowing down whilst losing feeling in our limbs we motivated each other in the group and battled our way through the pain to reach this most amazing natural site/experience. The water beat down on us from 180m above and was even colder than the water in the pool. We embraced one another and captured long lasting memories (whilst trying not to drown).
Following this we went to Berri Spring on the way back to Darwin where we gained an understanding for Aboriginal art work and face painting. All in all a fantastic and very worthwhile trip.
Over the next two days we will enjoy the historical sites of Darwin and will be in touch soon.
