We woke up today feeling fully refreshed after a good nights sleep.
We had our first taste of an indian breakfast and found it not too bad - we got an omelette, cornflakes bread and bananas (which we saved for later!)
After a very refreshing and much much needed shower we headed out towards Connaught Place and the Imperial Hotel where we were meeting Uncle Johns Friend, Anu.
After a quick walk through the park we found the gorgeous Imperial Hotel! After waiting a short while and talking to some American backpackers who were leaving India early as they didnt like it, we met Anu and his colleague and he bought us lunch - tuna nicoise salad for Laura and Tiger Prawn Caesar salad for Sarah - how indian!! was gorgeous though!
Anu gave us lots of advice including were to and were not to go and kindly offered to arrange us some transport around the Golden Triangle as travelling by car/taxi had been recommended to us by many people.
After saying our goodbyes, we spent ages trying to arrange a city tour of delhi, there are 'government' tourist offices all over the city with everybody directing you to them - it wasnt till we were sat in one about to book a tour that we realised it was a fake and we were probably being ripped off!! So we did a runner and found the official office who directed us somewhere else and then we decided not to do that tour and book one through our hotel!!!
Its so hard to know who to trust cos some people are friendly and just want to know about you and point you in the right direction and then others are just as friendly but then try to sell you something! But we fell much better about it all today than we did yesterday - its amazing what a good nights sleep does!
After the tourist offices we took an autorickshaw to Dilli Haat (Delhi Heart) a government market and Sarah spent ages deciding whether to buy a skirt or not!
then once she had decided to buy it we had to decide which colour! - as there were no mirrors Laura though it was a good idea to take photos of her with them on..... half an hour later she chose red!
The rickshaw ride was an 'interesting' experience and one where we feared for our lives because it was weaving in and out of the traffic so quickly, but it didn't stop us catching another (much slower one) to return back!!
After that we thought it was best to return to the hotel to prepare for our big city tour (costing us about 2 pounds each!)
