Having spent the last 6 weeks in South Africa, Namibia and Lesotho I have managed to list the 10 BEST TEN THINGS I HAVE SEEN OR DONE IN AFRICA (I found it extremely difficult to do as I could probably list hundreds!)
1. sand dunes in Sussosvlei, Namibia (by far the most diverse climate I have seen yet)
2. climbing at Waterval Boven, South Africa (the most beautiful climbing routes which enabled me to climb harder than I've ever climbed before)
3. slack lining in Eagle Mountain, South Africa (I was really eager to try this as I had been wanting to try it for almost a year before hand)
4. views by horse back in Malealea, Lesotho (very beautiful mountainous area)
5. village walk in Malealea, Lesotho (incredible learning about the a completely different culture to my own)
6. Sleeping in a cave at 3000 metres, Drakensberg mountains, South Africa looking over to Lesotho (amazing - only one word required!)
7. bungy jump, South Africa (adrenaline pumping) - thanks to Kenny and Laura for funding this jump
8. Climb on Table Mountain and the sunset, Cape Town, South Africa (sensational climb and view)
9. Kruger National Park, South Africa (the photos just don't potray the really beauty of these animals)
10. being apart of the hot rock team and travelling on BURT, Africa (a great way to meet other climbers and a safer way to travel in Africa)
WORST BITS (it just can't all be perfect)
the wet and cold drive day on BURT
truck polities e.g. the problems with weigh bridges and the lack of budget we had for food
Africa is clearly not without its problems (I'm not sure I could live with electric fences around my home in order to protect my property), however it was an incrediable place to travel which had the most beautiful and scenic mountain rangers and oceans. The weather was also amazing with a lovely dry heat (most of the time) and thunder storms which just added to the ambiance of it all. I look forwards to future travels venturing to the more Northern parts of Africa!
